Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to work in the domain of Galileo development and operations. The position is based in ESOC, in Darmstadt with a start foreseen as August 2016. Due to the nature of the programme, only citizens of the ESA member states and Canada can be selected. ResponsibilitiesDuties Software design and development for precise orbit determination of the Galileo satellite system Algorithms development for precise Galileo orbit modelling Processing of GNSSGalileospecific observation data types, and related software developments Being involved in the operations of the Galileo services at ESOC data retrieval and processing, routine creation and dissemination of Galileo products RealTime processing of Galileo products In addition, experience in EGNOS would be desirable Work in international teams More information on the Galileo activities at ESOC can be found on httpnavigationoffice.esa.int QualificationsExperience Completed university degree in mathematics, physics, geodesy, engineering or equivalent with high grades A good working knowledge of English Essential Skills Indepth familiarity with GNSS applications, data types, data processing and algorithms Indepth familiarity in GNSSrelated coordinate systems Indepth familiarity with applied mathematics and statistics relevant for precise orbit modelling and determination Sound knowledge of physics, especially mechanics and GNSS signal processing High sense of operational responsibility The capability to study independently complex and novel topics and to rapidly prototype SW for study purposes must be proven Software development in FORTRAN and C under LINUX and SunSolaris Excellent technical problem analysis and solving abilities Very good communication and technical presentation skills Ability to present work results at international conferences and in scientific magazines Desirable Skills C, C, MATLABSIMULINK, shell scripting Familiarity with EGNOS Previous operational experience Experience in RealTime processing Experience in documentation and configuration management Benefits Competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days holiday, generous training possibilities, Telespazio VEGA Deutschland pension scheme is offered to the successful candidate.
