Context ESA is currently designing the next generation of the European Satellite Navigation System, Galileo, which is planned to be deployed in the next decade. For the Phase B, ESA has requested the European Industry to support the system engineering activities through onsite services at ESAESTEC Task Description Were looking for a Senior System Architecture and Requirements Engineer to perform the following tasks Support ESA in the system design activities, especially for what concerns system architecture and system and segment requirements engineering Work in close cooperation with the ESA and Industry teams, extract system needs, critically assess and translate them into requirements and architectural concepts Draft system concepts, into the overall System Architecture Model, relevant to Galileo service provision evolution and supporting capabilities, considering performances, technology roadmaps, and system operability Organize and support Engineering Board, propose requirements changes and relevant justification, evaluate the impact of the change to the higher and lower levels, support the discussion and update the requirements accordingly Interact with the system analysts and support them in providing objectives, inputs and boundary conditions, and interpreting output results Act as book captain for company and ESA document as requested tradeoff documents, design definition and justification files, requirements specifications, traceability and justification, ICDs, AIV plan Ensure quality and on time delivery of company documents to the Prime contractor of the service Support ESA for technology activities reviews as needed. Required Profile and Experience A minimum of 7 years of Industrial experience in system engineering preferably for satellite systems is required, together with a degree in Engineering Working experience with ECSS and satellite architecture desirable. A background in satellite navigation related projects Galileo, EGNOS, satellite communication security, or Galileo PRS is a strong asset. Previous experience in institutional projects, especially with ESA, is an asset. Solid background in systems engineering processes and relevant documentation, systems analysis, interface management, architecture and requirements engineering, integration and verification planning. Handson experience with requirements engineering and change management. Experience with IBM DOORS at least as user is required. Understanding of and handson experience with MBSE and relevant tools. Familiarity with at least one of the major tools involved is required. Experience with Capella is an asset. Experience as system analyst and familiarity with main analysis tools Matlab, STK, communication analyses especially intersatellite link is required Familiarity with satellite communications, relevant problems and technologies involved The work requires proactivity, team cooperation, the ability to cope with shortterm deadlines and good negotiation skills The applicant shall be eligible for the EU security clearance up to Secret level

Responsibilities Lead development and architectural design activities for the flight software on Astroscale spacecraft o Derive and maintain software requirements, define software solutions and system architectures. o Define ICDs, development and verification plans. o Design, develop, and validate spacecraft flight software, ground test software, and simulation software. Coordinate with other teams at subsystem and at system level to identify software needs and solutions. Support definition and generation of ConOps. Support knowledge transfer from Astroscale teams globally and provide technical review inputs to projects across the Astroscale organisation. Provide experienced guidance and mentoring to junior team members. Essential Skills Bachelor or masters degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant engineeringscience discipline. 5 years of commercial experience in flight software development for satellites. Experience with embedded systems programming CC. Knowledge of software development methodologies embedded software engineering. Familiarity with commonly used protocols and standards for spacecraft communications, such as CCSDS, CAN, Spacewire. Experience of implementing realtime systems and software solutions on spacecraft missions. Experience in developing and implementing test plans for spacecraft. Proactive and selfmanaging, able to plan and effectively lead areas of responsibility whilst contributing collaboratively within a closeknit team. Desired Skills Familiarity with AgileScrum software development practices. Experience of spacecraft design lifecycle at all stages from initial concept to design, test, and operations. Knowledge of Ground segment architectures. Basic Linux system administration, shell scripts, make, etc. Development on Linux systems. Knowledge of scripting languages e.g. Python, Matlab, bash. Knowledge of assembler for microcontrollers. A basic knowledge in the following areas debris removal, endoflife, inorbit servicing. Whilst the working language across all Astroscale divisions is English, proficiency in spoken andor written Japanese would be considered an asset. Support procurement engineers with specification, tradeoff and selection of propulsion equipment. Supporting test engineers with testing of models functional e.g. thrust analysis, environmental e.g. vibe, thermal, TVAC, requirements verification, analysis of test data and correlation with propulsion technical models. Essential Skills experience Diploma Bachelor or Master degree in propulsion, mechanical or aerospace engineering. 5 years of commercial experience in propulsion systems analysis, design procurement and test for satellites. An in depth understanding of the tradeoffs in application of Chemical Propulsion and Electrical Propulsion systems. A good knowledge of propulsion suppliers and products and the stateoftheart in propulsion systems and propulsion RD. Good understanding of spacecraft mission lifecycle and milestones e.g. MDR, PDR, CDR, etc. Good understanding of system engineering managing requirements through the full project lifecycle.
