Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem Payload Context The incumbent ensures six sigma satellite payload availability by providing highly specialized engineering expertise in payload in all phases of a satellite life cycle from satellite specification to build phase and operations. HeShe is responsible to ensure that satellite health and safety is maintained all along its life cycle. Heshe plans, coordinates and performs required RF transponder testing and preparing and executing the required procedures for payload recovery in case of anomalies. Responsibilities Provide primary support for inorbit fleet payload operations Support satellite operations activity through payload procedure development, training, limitsalerts review and data trending Review and maintain satellite operational documentation for communication subsystem for inorbit fleet Support the anomaly management process through anomaly reviews, corrective action development and payload performance analysis for the inorbit fleet Provide 247on call support during payload system testing and during spacecraft operating life for anomaly resolution Maintain technical interface with Satellite Manufacturer and Spacecraft Operations to ensure proper communications of requirements, performance and anomaly resolution for payload subsystem Participate in design reviews, satellite test activities and review of payload technical documentation in preparation for start of service for new satellites Travel as required Experience Qualifications Masters Degree or equivalent, with a specialization which includes telecommunication RF engineering, ideally in relation to spacecraft disciplines Understanding of payload architecture, design and manufacturing RF equipment, repeater and antenna subsystem Link budget Repeater RF performance measurement Integration and testing Quality control essentials Experience in High Throughput Satellite Engineering is an asset Experience in Radio Network Engineering is an asset Experience in spacecraft payload mission specification is an asset Experience in satellite procurement activities is an asset Ability to work day to day inorbit fleet issues and operations with other members of space operations and space engineering teams Excellent communications skills both written and oral Strong computer software skills required We offer you A diverse workplace. Tasks The tasks of this role will include Integrating and testing mission critical space ground systems according to the clients software product assurance standards Reviewing and understanding user requirements with customers Producing and automating test cases, plans, and reports Analysing test results and investigating the root causes in collaboration with the developers Maintaining and upgrading the development environment and build process Quality and product assurance activities Configuration management activities Delivery production activities Related delivery documentation production Performing and improving installation of required software systems Contributing to the establishment and implementation of standards for testing across projects environment, procedures, tools and documentation Collaboration with the client, users, and subcontractors Planning, leading, and performing factory and site acceptance testing witnessed by customer Leading teams of integration and verification engineers Reporting test results to the customer Managing test plans and cases and traceability to requirements Qualifications Required qualifications to be successful in this role The ideal consultant is a software integration verification engineer with experience in a test verification andor a QAPA role. He or she should be able to support any manual testing and QAPA activities. Testers are also expected to write documentation on test tools and environments as well as test case descriptions and test reports. The candidate should be familiar with software and systems engineering and test methodologies and practices. Indepth knowledge of programming or scripting languages e.g. Python, Java, CC, Bash, Perl and software build tools would be appreciated. Experience with tools for static and dynamic code checking is desirable. Essential skills include University degree in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent Excellent problem solving capability Great attention to detail Willingness to take ownership of matters and to drive them forward Software testing experience user acceptance, integrational, data processing Experience with test management tools, e.g. IBM Rational DOORS and Quality Manager Test automation experience Team leading and test management and planning experience Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows Scripting and programming languages, preferably Python, Bash, Perl, Java, or CC Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle Customer orientation Great communication skills Team player who is also able to work independently Willingness to travel approximately 10 Experience working in a multicultural environment Passion for space and defining complex systems Aspiration to learn and improve your skills and capabilities Fluency in both written and verbal English Desired skills include Experience working in the space industry in an integration and verification or similar capacity Experience in the engineering or operations of space mission ground systems ISTQB Foundation certification Experience with the administration of version control tools, e.g. GIT Experience with the administration of configuration management tools, e.g. Puppet Experience with the administration of continuous integration and related tooling, e.g. Jenkins Experience with the administration of static and dynamic code checking tools, e.g. SonarQube Interested?
