U.S. EPA announced availability of up to $9 million in grants through National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program (DERA) for Fiscal Year 2013 for new projects to reduce emissions from existing fleet of diesel engines. States, tribes, local governments, and non-profits are eligible. Projects can reduce air pollution from school buses, transit buses, heavy-duty trucks, marine engines, locomotives, and other diesel engines. Closing date for receipt of proposals is June 25, 2013. Reuters: EU politicians on Wednesday backed a compromise deal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles from 2020 and also called for a 2025 target that would make cars even more fuel efficient.
