Ground Segment Quality Assurance Engineer

This is an opportunity for a a university graduated engineer, with at least 5 years experience in the ProductQuality Assurance area in AerospaceSpace Programmes to support our customer in the quality assurance of the MTG programme. This position is full time and unlimited and fully based on customer side in EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany. The position will start earliest November 2015. Submission deadline for applicants is 7thth of September 2015. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The Key Person will be part of the MTG QA Team which provides support to the MTG Programme. Herhis tasks will be allocated in support of the MTG Ground Segment activities, including Ground Segment and System IVV, monitoring of IVV QA related activities and witnessing tests of facilities, in accordance with the plan and priorities assigned by the GEO QA Manager and the MTG GS QA Engineer. In this framework, the main tasks of the Key Person will include the following Implement EUMETSAT QA policies in the assigned areas, keep in accordance with the MTG System QA plan and all relevant applicable Standards, Technical and QA documents, Procedures and Working Practices WPs that are applicable to the ongoing projects phases Ensure that MTG processes involved with the assigned tasks are implemented in accordance with their relevant QA working practices and procedures Support maintenance of GEO WPs and procedures Suggest and support implementation of as agreed improvements to the available QA documentation, aiming at process efficiency and synergy Support the establishment of metrics to measure the effectiveness of the main processes within the assigned areas. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE A University degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Sciences or a related discipline is required. The Key Person shall have at least 5 years of specific work experience in the ProductQuality Assurance area in AerospaceSpace Programmes, and have good interpersonal and mediation skills. Specific experience on PAQA processes on satellite Ground Segments, satellite Mission Control and Operations, and on Satellite data processing will be considered an advantage. Candidates having matured significant work experience in other fields, on complex products with elevated technical contents will also be considered. Ground Segment Test Coordinator 1 Year Renewable Contract Assignment for 3 years Start Date ASAP Geneva Switzerland Post Description ESAs first Sclass mission due for launch end of 2017, the Department of Astronomy of the University of Geneva is opening the post of the Ground Segment Test Coordinator. Location The location of the post is the Geneva Observatory Switzerland with a physical presence at the location of the Mission Operator in Madrid Spain that is increasing with time. The CHaracterizing ExOPlanet Satellite will be the first mission dedicated to the search for transits by means of ultrahigh precision photometry on bright stars already known to host planets. By being able to point at nearly any location on the sky, the customer will provide the unique capability of determining accurate radii for a subset of those planets for which the mass has already been estimated from groundbased spectroscopic surveys. It will also provide precision radii for new planets discovered by the next generation groundbased transits surveys Neptunesize and smaller. Duties The Department of Astronomy of the University of Geneva is responsible for the development and operations of the Science Operations Centre and the overall coordination of the Ground Segment. In the Ground Segment integration and test team the Ground Segment test coordinator has the following tasks and responsibilities Ensuring that the test and validation activities for the complete Ground Segment for all its configurations are performed properly and in time Establishing and maintaining the Ground Segment test and simulations related documentation Leading the Ground Segment integration and test team meetings Leading the Science Operations Simulations Contributing to the preparation and execution of the prelaunch Ground Segment tests and the inorbit commissioning campaign Providing input and support to the project partners for validation and verifications activities Preparing and participating to the GS reviews Monitoring the MOC, SOC and satellite development and validation activities with a focus on validation related activities. Qualifications Applicants to this post should have A degree in space engineering or equivalent Experience in satellite operations especially ground segment operations Experience in integration and validation of heterogeneous systems An excellent level of written and spoken English The readiness for extensive travelling in Europe mainly Spain and The Netherlands. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating Experience in project management of international teams A good level of Spanish ideally. Contract and closing date According to university regulations, the initial contract is for 1 year renewable over the full 3 years of the assignment.
