Sonys next Xbox-killing move: Developing a PS4 virtual reality headset
2013-09-04 16:48:30| Extremetech
The Oculus Rift, though still only a development kit and full of half-working tech demos, is something of a cult phenomenon. For just $300, you can experience the closest thing the consumer market has had to in-home virtual reality. Sony appears to have to caught on to the Rift's hype, and is reportedly working on its own VR headset for the PS4.

Xbox One CPU speed boosted by 10% in vain attempt to keep up with PS4
2013-09-04 12:26:37| Extremetech
In a move that clearly signals Microsoft's desperation to get ahead of Sony's PlayStation 4 by any means possible, the Xbox One's CPU has been speed boosted from 1.6GHz to 1.75GHz -- 150MHz, or just under 10%. At the same press conference, Microsoft also said that the Xbox One has entered mass production, and that it's on schedule for a November release -- though we still don't have an exact release date.
PS4 and Xbox One wont support external hard drives for now
2013-09-03 21:06:48| Extremetech

PS4 and Xbox One user interfaces are all about simplicity and speed
2013-08-22 21:57:48| Extremetech
We've seen the controllers, the cameras, and the new game consoles themselves, but we've still only seen a few minutes worth of footage of one of the most important aspects of a device: the user interface. Speed, ease of navigation, and the potential for annoying ads are still difficult to judge from these sparse details, but we can already see some truly compelling features popping up on the next-gen consoles.
PS4 will use its unified architecture to pound Xbox One into the dust eventually
2013-08-22 15:30:47| Extremetech
New details on the PS4 suggest that it's significantly more powerful than the Xbone in the eyes of developers -- and the only console shipping with AMD's HSA support.
