One-third of Internet Explorer users at risk from active attacks

Microsoft late Thursday said that both Internet Explorer 10 and its predecessor, IE9, were under attack by hackers exploiting an unpatched flaw in the browsers. The extension of the vulnerability to IE9 followed confirmation earlier yesterday that active attacks are compromising the newer IE10 and hijacking PCs running the browser.

Bitcoin exchanges hit by DDoS attacks

The problems plaguing bitcoin worsened Tuesday as online attacks on the digital currency's software affected two more exchanges. Major bitcoin exchange Bitstamp has suspended bitcoin withdrawals amid distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

Unable to Dent Wallet, France Attacks Google's Pride

France's top administrative court ruled that Google must display a notice on its French search page saying that the company was fined by a local privacy watchdog. Google plans to fight the fine, but will have to adorn its Google.fr page with the humiliating message in the meantime. In January, French privacy regulators followed through on previous threats by fining Google roughly $200,000.
