SoftBank appoints Google's Arora as vice-chairman, SIMI CEO

(Telecompaper) Japanese mobile operator SoftBank has appointed Nikesh Arora as its vice-chairman and CEO of SoftBank Internet and Media Inc (SIMI), effective October. Arora joins SoftBank from Google, were he most recently served as chief business officer. In his new position, Arora will contribute to defining, implementing and managing SoftBank's global growth strategy. In addition, as CEO of SIMI he will be directly responsible for overseeing SoftBank's internet, telecommunications, media and global investment activities.

Google's Project Zero Cybersecurity Watch: No Excuses

Google on Tuesday announced Project Zero, an effort to speed up the security bug-fixing process. A team of cybersecurity experts will go after vulnerabilities in any and all software, notify the vendors, and then file bug reports in a public database so users can track the issuance of patches. The Project Zero team has promised to send bug reports to vendors in as close to real-time as possible.
