A vacancy has arisen for a SoftwareApplications Developer with Airbus Defence and Space in Leicester. The team based in Leicester is responsible for the processing and analysis of remotely sensed imagery for a range of applications, primarily focused on consultancy for the oil, gas and mining sectors, supported by a small inhouse RD team. Currently the team have a broad range of skills and knowledge including data and sensors, image processing, offshore hydrocarbon seep mapping, environmental analysis, geological interpretation and GIS. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. The need for additional skills, in the form of a software solutions developer, has been identified to support the growing demand for novel algorithms and applications from our clients. It is envisaged that a significant part of the role will involve handson programming of image analysis algorithms, sourced from literature or open source libraries, and their testing and integration into production systems. Tasks may include transposing algorithms from one language into another, and assisting with porting of solutions to various computing platforms. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree qualified in an IT, Software or GISRemote Sensing or related topic. Knowledge of Digital image analysis, machine vision and pattern recognition. Hands on programming experience in C, C, Java and Python, for both Windows and Linux environments. Awareness of OGC standards and related FOSSCOTS implementation. Knowledge of virtualised and cloudbased approaches to computing. Familiarity with open source image analysis libraries such as ScikitImage, ScikitLearn, ORFEO Toolbox and OpenCV. GIS systems and spatial databases. Strong mathematical skills. Job description For a customer in the UK, we are seeking experienced Spacecraft Flight Software Developers for the ExoMars Rover Vehicle. The ExoMars Rover is planned to be launched in 2018 and will carry a comprehensive suite of instruments dedicated to exobiology and geological research. The nominal mission duration is 218 Martian sols. To achieve this a sophisticated suite of onboard software has to be developed and undergo a very comprehensive integration, test and verification program. Responsibilities As a part of the flight software development team, you will be located at the customer premises. The primary responsibilities will be the integration and validation of the flight software. This will include producing test specifications, test procedures and the running of those tests.
