For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, in the Earth Observation Programme, we are currently looking for a Ground System Engineer. S5P is a Earth Observation Mission within the GMES Programme where the Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS is developed by DLR, under direct Project responsibility while the FOS is under ESOC responsibility. Tasks and Responsibilities You will support definition, implementation and validation of the Ground Segment in collaboration with the S5P Project team, ESOC and DLR. Furthermore heshe shall support the preparation of the Spacecraft Inorbit Operations upto and including the Commissioning Phase Review. Support to the refinement of the Ground Segment Concept within the project team and in collaboration with teams in ESOC and DLR Refinement and maintenance of the requirements for specific aspects of the Flight Operations Segment and Payload Data Ground Segment Contribution to the definition of the Spacecraft to Ground Segment Interfaces and monitoring in collaboration with the Spacecraft and AIT manager proper implementation and verification of those Interfaces Coordination of deliveries of the Level 1B and Level 2 processors to the PDGS developers and follow up corresponding integration and validation tasks Monitoring of the implementation of the FOS and PDGS, ensuring compatibility between the Spacecraft and the Ground Segment Elements Support Project Reviews at Satellite, GS and System levels Preparation of prelaunch ground system validation activities, including generation of test plans and test data in collaboration with the S5P Ground Segment Manager and the Spacecraft and AIT manager Coordination of daytoday prelaunch validation activities, organize test reviews and generation of reports Participation in preparation and execution of the inorbit system validation and verification tasks, under the responsibility of the S5P Commissioning Phase Manager. You may also be required to participate in EOP ground segment reviews on other projects support to be agreed with that Project Manager. Absolute minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience with space ground segments. Good communication and analytical skills to interface with colleagues within ESA and with external partners and industry are essential. The candidate must be able to work in English and both autonomously and as a part of a team. All applicants must be legally allowed to work in the Netherlands. ie. already have a European passport. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 29 annual days holiday.
