Satellite Application Facilities Engineer 1613026 Job Description We are looking for a Satellite Application Facilities Engineer SAF to support our client EUMETSAT. SAFs are EUMETSAT elements of the infrastructure that makes up the Application Ground Segments. They are established for exploitation of the satellite missions data and extraction of geophysical parameters relevant for meteorology, climate change monitoring and earth environmental and societal benefit applications. SAFs are developed and operated by specialized, excellence centres set up by National Meteorological Services and Research Institutes of EUMETSAT Member and Cooperating States, forming consortia for the production and operational delivery of level 2 and higher order products, using primarily the EUMETSAT satellites observation data as well as complementary inputs from other satellite systems, radiosondes, atmospheric profiles, assimilation and forecasts data and as available insitu measurements and synoptic observations. SAFs also develop software packages for use at end user sites. Tasks The EUMETAT Satellite Application Facilitis SAF Web Area encompasses a suite of webbased tools necessary to Support SAF Network Management activities. Examples are the Webbased RID tool supporting the SAF Reviews and the tools enabling control of the SAF baseline. Such tools need to be kept uptodate in line with progress of SAF developments. The tasks of this position include SAF Network Management Task 1 Using the EUMETSAT Webbased RID Tool, support the preparation and conduction of all SAF Reviews, properly configuring the tool for each review, based on related organisational notes, and the generation of Review reports. The contract shall also support the evolution of the used Webbased RID tool in line with evolving requirements as well as detected anomalies to be corrected. Typically, up to 3035 SAF Reviews are conducted every year, either by email exchange, with collocation meeting of the review board and the SAF project, or when via teleconf. Task 2 Update and refine the structure of the SAF Network Management Intranet and Extranet areas and update the related content in line with the evolving status of the SAF Network. Task 3 Maintain on the SAF Network Management Extranet the SAF Controlled Documentation Baseline at network level and for each SAF Task 4 Ingestion of the related new documentation metadata into the supporting Database Task 5 Update of the SAF System Architectural synthesis available through the Internet Task 6 Configure the SAF EUMETSAT FTP Server, used in conjunction with other WEB Tools. A dedicated FTP Server is available for the exchange of documentation between the SAFs and EUMETSAT. This FTP Server supports specific SAF reviews and also a dedicated documentation exchange during different phases of a SAF project Task 7 Support the followon of the SAF Developments related to MTG and EPSSG, including assessment of evolution of requirements, evolution of design and interfaces with respect to the baseline plans, providing synthesis elements to be made available via InternetExtranet. Task 8 Support the supervision and assessment of SAF Verification and Validation activities for all new productsoperational chains related to MTG and EPSSG, in particular in terms of Evaluation of the test progress with respect to EUMETSAT MultiMission Elements MME of the Ground Segment Dissemination and ArchivingRetrieval Evaluation of the coherence of the SAFs Verification and Validation plans and Test Records with respect to the programme Verification and Validation approach of new satellite programmes in development Supporting the distribution to SAFs of Test Data related to new satellite programmes in development for use by SAFs for verification and validation purposed Gathering of Verification Validation Results provided by SAFs for inclusion in the Verification Validation Files of the new programmes in development.
