TASKS For all tasks, the inputs will be The current status of the SAF Network and EUMETSAT Programmes The specific directives that will be provided on a case by case basis by the SAF Network System Engineer Work Packages and their updates as necessary. The above activities shall be carriedout in line with EUMETSAT Procedures, standards, and working practices. The Consultant shall accomplish the following tasks Engineering Support Tasks To support the organisation of the SAF reviews related to the evolution of SAF products or operational chains already in operations To support the organisation of the SAF reviews related to the development of new SAF products or operational chains, in particular in relation to the implementationof requirements related to the new satellite programmes in development and in particular MTG and EPSSG Maintenance of Web Content and Documentation Baseline Support the SAF Steering Group Meetings SAF Steering Groups meet nominally twice a year. A set of documents related to each Steering Group meeting is delivered by the SAF leading Entity concerns. The SAF Web Extranet will be used to support these activities by providing the access of the documentation that is relevant to each Steering Group meeting. Maintenance of SAF Web pages supporting SAFs Steering Groups and allowing access to relevant documentation. Maintain the SAF EUMETSAT FTP Server A dedicated FTP Server is available for the exchange of documentation between the SAFs and EUMETSAT. This FTP server supports specific SAF reviews and also a dedicated documentation exchange during different phases of a SAF project. PROFILE As a minimum, the consultant shall have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent, and a proven experience and skills as specified hereafter. Experience Knowledge in Ground Segment Engineering lifecycles Experience in Project Reviews Organisation and conduction Experience in requirements definition and traceability Knowledge in engineering standard used in Ground Segment Development as ECSS Extensive experience in WEB application in designing, implementing and maintainingweb content and services in Internet, Intranet and Extranet systems across distributedweb sites Experience in using Web Contents Management Systems would be appreciated. Satellite Operations Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a world leader in satellite data communications. It pioneered the use of high throughput satellites at the Kaband frequencies. Major organisations are now using its networks for cellular backhaul, IP trunking, complex government and enterprise networks and video services, as well as broadband. As a member of the Satellite Operations Team, you will report to the Satellite Operations Engineering Manager and shall support the safe operations of the existing fleet and, where operations duties allow, support the procurement and development activities for future missions and projects. Your tasks will include but will not be limited to Support the 24hour operation of inorbit satellites, including o Taking system level responsibility for one or more spacecraft o Performing mission planning activities for one or more spacecraft, tasking spacecraft controllers and assisting in live operations as necessary o Performing daytoday monitoring of spacecraft performance, health status and telemetry trending as required o Generating regular, periodic operations reports o Participating in regular and ad hoc operations meetings o Participating in anomaly investigation logging, analysis reporting etc. o Development of ANDs, GRDs, mimics and offline tools o Participating in formal training of and by other members of the team o Assisting with development, testing and implementation of automated procedure execution o Performing other offline analytical tasks, as required. Support the development and procurement of ground control systems as required, including requirements specification and testing. Participate in a scheduled oncall rota, occasional shift work for critical operations and occasional UK and foreign travel. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Several years of experience in the field of spacecraft operations Detailed knowledge of satellite subsystems, RF communications principles as well as telemetry, telecommand and ranging standardsprotocols Development, validation and use of flight operations procedures Management and use of dynamic spacecraft simulators and spacecraft operational databases Fluency in English is mandatory.
