A 23-year-old Fitchburg man pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Ayer District Court on Wednesday on charges of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, allegedly occurring sometime between May 1 and June 30. Mark Jenkins, a volunteer basketball coach with Ayer Shirley Recreational Basketball League, is alleged to have inappropriately touched a teen on two separate occasions, according to Ayer police. The report said that one of incidents occurred in a secluded area of Ayer's Pirone Park.

5th person pleads guilty in drug warehouse heist

A fifth person has pleaded guilty to participating in a 2010 Connecticut warehouse heist that prosecutors say involved up to $100 million in prescription drugs. Cuban citizen and Miami resident Rafael Lopez pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal charge of deliberately hiding his knowledge of a felony, acknowledging he was aware of the heist and helped conceal it.

Two Nashua men charged in a shooting during a botched drug deal pleaded guilty this week and were sentenced to several years in state prison. Alexandre Amado, 21, formerly of 15 Kessler Farm Drive, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and armed robbery and will spend five to 10 years in prison after admitting to accidentally shooting Danny Vorn in the head on Jan. 9 on Rochette Avenue while trying to rob him of 5 pounds of marijuana.
