Hitachi Metals Ltd., a Tokyo-based auto parts manufacturer, has agreed to plead guilty and pay a $1.25 million fine for its alleged role in a conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for automotive brake hose. The U.S. Justice Department Antitrust Division filed a one-count felony charge and settlement agreement against Hitachi Oct. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in Toledo.

A jury found a failed Clark County district attorney candidate guilty of three felonies in an October 2009 confrontation in which he was shot by Las Vegas police. Raymond James "Jim" Duensing Jr. could face up to 12 years in prison at sentencing Jan. 15 following Monday's verdict on resisting an officer, carrying a concealed weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm charges.
