Ground Systems Operations Engineer SC172080 Job Description We are looking for a Ground Systems Operations Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT. You would be working within the System Engineering and Projects Division supporting system engineering activities for Operational systems. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team interacting with operational programmes and future programmes and will support the SEP Division with the following activities Supporting the consolidation, evolution and maintenance of the Ground Segment reference architecture. Supporting the assessment of impacts to the Ground Segment of changes required for operational systems, resulting from evolution and maintenance activities. This includes analysing engineering change requests on the operational ground segments supporting the investigation of anomalies on the ground segment, including the endtoend view and understanding of the systems coordinating with different teams in order to assess the impact of the requested changes attending daily operationrelated meetings in order to remain uptodate with the progress of the activities. Supporting the update and maintenance of the documentation of operational ground segments as follow up actions stemming from agreed evolution and changes of the systems. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline Experience in the field of systems engineering, maintenance and operations of ground segment systems Experience in maintenance and evolution lifecycle Knowledge of the systems making up a ground segment, their interrelations, interactions and understand the implications that making changes in one system have on others. Extensive experience in the analysis of systems applications and modelling. Space and Ground System engineering processes, and System and Software lifecycles and standards. Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering methods, techniques and tools. Desirable Skills and Experience Familiarity with formal architecture frameworks e.g., MODAF, TOGAF, DODAF will be a valuable appreciated asset. Definition, management and traceability of requirements with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. You shall be able to fulfill the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple parallel tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communications skills verbal and written are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. You shall have good interpersonal skills and proactive attitude with strong ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment. Location ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany Description Mission Analyst in the Mission Analysis Section, Flight Dynamics Division, Ground Systems Engineering Department, Directorate of Operations. Reporting to the Head of Section, the postholder will participate in mission analysis activities for future mission studies, spacecraft and ground segment design and operations preparation. This encompasses terrestrial, interplanetary and librationpoint missions. The emphasis is on orbit analysis and related fields, such as tradingoff orbit selection, optimising lowhighthrust rocket propulsion trajectories including ascent, computing atmospheric entry trajectories, launch windows, fuel budget analysis, predicting orbitderived data, orbit determination and navigation analysis, analysing satellite constellations and formation flight. Requirements Applicants for this post should have a university degree at least Masters degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant physical science or engineering subject, together with a demonstrated background and experience in systems for Earth Atmospheric Composition monitoring and science studies in a space project environment as well as knowledge of aerosols and ozone observational data. Experience working with atmospheric composition in EarthSystem models and data assimilation as well as background and experience on the specific issues relevant to bright limb, solar and stellar occultation observing systems are assets. The candidate must possess solid analytical skills and the command of the physics and techniques of Earth limb observation systems bright limb, solarstellar occultation, together with the capability to critically analyse the work performed by industry in the relevant areas, identify problems and proposeinstigate corrective actions. The candidate shall demonstrate to be proficient with programming tools and languages relevant to the implementation and maintenance of the system performance models e.g. MATLAB. Specific Tasks The holder of this post will contribute to all aspects project internal activities, monitoringreview of the relevant industrial activities, interaction with Mission Users and Scientists relevant to the mission performance of the ALTIUS mission up to Level 2. The post holder will report to the ALTIUS System and Engineering Manager. Support the System and Engineering Manager and the other ALTIUS project team members in all aspects related to mission performance, as necessary for the effective execution of the ALTIUS project. The Mission Performance Engineer will cooperate closely with the ALTIUS payload team in the execution of the relevant tasks.
