Replacing conventional alternating-current (AC) transformer platforms, AC grid access solution, consisting of offshore transformer module attached directly to wind turbine, acts as distributed transmission asset and connects near-shore wind power plants to grid. Nominal rating is in incremental 250 megawatt blocks, and ability to be linked together provides required transmission capacity large wind parks. Size, weight, and mounting capability eliminate need for special heavy lift vessel.
