Principal Purpose of the Position To manage the establishment and operation of TAS UKs propulsion integration facility primarily at Belfast. To manage associated activities such as project management, manufacturing processes, mechanical and thermal engineering requirements. The manager is responsible of the Propulsion System Assembly, Integration Test AIT. . The role is in charge of the technical content, schedule and costs of the tasks in the AIT department. Principal Relationships TAS UK and TAS JV organisation departments Engineering Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Procurement etc Thales UK organisations such as the manufacturing facility in Harwell and Bristol. External stakeholder organisations customers, suppliers etc Professional Organisations such as Engineering Institutions Key Responsibilities and tasks Manages workload plan for AIT activities Supervisor of daily activities in the facility. Implementation of assembly, integration and test phases of the project. Controls the deployment of the AIT plan for the propulsion system Management of the team on the following activities o Assembly of the Propulsion system and subsystems o Validation of the tooling o Performing hazardous and critical operations, such as welding in line with the correct standards o Environmental tests preparation and satellite instrumentation in accordance with the instrumentation plan. o Handling of MGSE and EGSE o Functional Testing o Alignment measurements o Tank Operations o Thermal test o Vibration test o Mass properties o Propulsion leak tests o Propulsion system installation in the transport container o Responsible for packing GSE o Recording test configurations and databases and ensures the traceability of the operations that have been conducted are correctly performed o Reviewing test results to ensure the quality of the tests carried are acceptable and provides the corresponding test reports as applicable Responsible to ensure staff are correctly trainedcertified to perform the AIT procedures and processes Responsible for the AIT work packages with associated cost Responsible for programmatic and technical aspects of Propulsion system AIT. Responsible for logistics related to external facilities. Responsible for the propulsion system installation in the transport container Organises the transfer of end product to the next phase in the project including availability of documents and necessary tools. Supports the Launch Campaign when required Participates to the system risk analysis. Supports program reviews PDR, CDR, FMCR, Organises AIT reviews PRR, TRR and MRL as well as NRB. Design and integration of Ground Support Equipment GSE including Mechanical GSE MGSE, Electrical GSE EGSE hardware and software, and Tanking GSE TGSE. Responsible of the availability of test tools GSE Captures lesson learnt and leads the review meetings The job holder will be required to perform adhoc additional duties that will arise from time to time that are consistent with the nature of this managerial position. Qualifications, Skills Experience Degree level qualification in an associated discipline such as engineering, manufacturing Professional certification from a relevant Professional Institution is desirable such as The Institution of Mechanical Engineering. A demonstrable positive performance record in the following activities Experience in Propulsion system Assembly, Integration Test AIT and the Launch Campaign preparation and performance on several spacecraft Provision of managerial and technical impact relating to activities associated with the operation of a propulsion system integration facility such as project management, people management, mechanical and thermal engineering. Communication and influencing skills to build productive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders A working knowledge of government institutional contractual rules and forms is desirable Behaviours Can demonstrate a positive example in relation to the Leadership Model Shape Solutions Out of Complexity Be Ambitious and Accountable Perform Through Cooperation Influence Key Stakeholders Manage Self Engage and Develop Teams The job requires a flexible and can do approach to perform effectively in a fast changing business growth environment. It will also require the demonstration of behaviours that contribute to an agile and collaborative operating model, One Team One Company The job requires the ability to work in a multisite capacity. There will be a main location but occasional travel is required within the UK and overseas mainly within Europe. A drivers licence that is valid for the UK is required. . In line with Thales Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment andor education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
