Overview Within the European Space Agency, the Advanced Concepts Team ACT is engaging in collaborative research relations with university institutes and research centres, focusing on advanced research topics of potential strategic interest to the space sector and in experimenting with new forms of teamwork. In order to achieve this goal a multidisciplinary research environment is provided, in which young scientific and engineering postdoctoral and postgraduate researchers carry out work on emerging technologies and innovative concepts. The candidate is expected to contribute to the development and the assessment of new concepts and technologies for space applications in close interaction with ACT researchers who work on a broad range of disciplines including, informatics, artificial intelligence, climate modelling, energy systems, fundamental physics, biomimetics, computational management science and mission analysis. Depending on the nature of the project, which will be specified in the relevant RT, the contractor will have to interface with the academic community in the related field. Specifically for this position, the candidate shall Perform research on the production of structural biocomposites with fungifor space applications and on Robotic manufacturing of fibrous structuresin space. Set up maker space. Specific qualification requirements University degree MSc. in Engineering with educational background in Telecommunicationengineering. Fibres, construction of fibres from lunar regolith and combination intospace structures. Competence regarding maker spaces fablabs, spacearchitecture and infrastructure. Fluent in the English language spoken and written. Knowledge of another European language is an asset. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are36 per week 0,9 FTE. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
