America Movil wins Mexican court victory over interconnection fees

2017-08-17 08:45:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Mexico's Supreme Court has again ruled partly in favour of America Movil in one of the company's injunctions against the 2013-14 telecommunications reform, reports Reuters. In its judgment on one of the key provisions of the reform, the court said America Movil should not be barred by law from charging competitors certain fees and that telecom regulator IFT should set the corresponding interconnection rates. The company had claimed the Mexican congress didn't have the authority in 2014 to ban it from charging other operators for calls made to customers on its network, even though Telefonica and AT&T were allowed to charge the dominant player for incoming calls from its users.
