Position Reference 079 You will have the opportunity to support the POLARIS activities. POLARIS is a platform and set of services mainly designed to host, run and operate PRISMA and ECLIPSE applications, which are ESA European Space Agencys most widely used tools for information management in the project development phase. These applications are used by ESA Space Projects across the ESA Directorates, Industry, the Scientific Community and the Delegate Bodies. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Apply all the required processes, services, activities and tasks to ensure users can effectively use existing POLARIS Applications in support to their business needs. Enable applications improvement by analysing and documenting system anomalies which Prevent correct andor effective use of the existing applications. Provide User Support for basic and complex How To type of questions. Execute functional operations, according to an agreed set of possible, documented procedures, that do not require changes to application software and documents. Collect and document Frequently Asked Questions, making available relevant documentation to users, e.g. User Manuals, FAQ. Contribute in the identification, definition and delivery of workaround. Collect, engineer and manage Functional user requirements. Define and execute functional Verification and Validation test plans including nonregression for Application Infrastructure maintenance and upgrade. Support ESA stakeholders during the Validation process. Execute troubleshooting and data management, providing the solution to amend data anomalies resulted from system malfunction andor user error, upon necessary authorisation, when the user cannot recover the situation autonomously because of system limits. Record data changeupload statements scripts and procedures in the Service Management System. Produce and maintain or contribute to the production and maintenance of the POLARIS deliverables Contribution in the preparatory activities and then execute the DisasterRecovery Plan, including a simulation per Year. Coordinate, monitor, and escalate incidents requiring the attention of ESA third parties. Adhoc additional tasks as required by the Service Manager in support of the POLARIS activities. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You hold a technical qualification or documented operational experience in the field of IT Systems, Network Engineering andor data center operation. You have at least 4 years of experience in the management, operation and maintenance of IT systems, in particular in IT second line support. You are fluent in the English language. You have a strong customer oriented approach and able to communicate coherently and professionally. You have experience in Documentation Management and keeping Documents under Configuration Control. The following skills would be highly desirable Previous experience with ESA andor Polaris. Previous experience with one or more of the following technologies Apache Web Servers, JBoss EAP, Open LDAP, Oracle DB, Mongo DB, Red Hat Enterprise Server, Microsoft Windows Server.
