Atlanta tech director accepted kickbacks from contract deal

Jerome Oberlton, a former technology director for Atlanta Public Schools, was sentenced to three years and five months in a federal prison for accepting $60,000 in kickbacks in exchange for awarding a $780,000 contract, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution has reported. The contract, awarded to Computech, was for a data-warehousing project that would have centralized the school district’s network and improved access for employees.
