Guardian: The Turnbull government has bought another 45m tonnes of carbon abatement for $557m meaning it has spent almost half the $2.55bn emissions reduction fund to buy less than half the greenhouse reductions needed to meet its 2020 target.
At its first auction, held in April, the government bought 47m tonnes of abatement for $660m an average price of $13.50 a tonne.
