(Telecompaper) Bharti Airtel reported revenues for its fiscal first quarter to June up 8 percent year-on-year to INR 255.47 billion, led by strong demand for data services in its home market India. EBITDA increased 16 percent to INR 95.91 billion, and the margin rose to 37.5 percent from 34.8 a year ago, driven by improved profitability in both India and Africa. The company's net profit fell 31 percent year-on-year to INR 14.62 billion, hurt by charges for asset impairments and the new exchange rate regime in Nigeria. Capital expenditure increased 23 percent to INR 49.25 billion, and operating cash flow was up 10 percent to INR 46.66 billion.
