Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced CSM Software Librarian Copernicus. Your role is required as part of the Operations phases of the different missions that are currently run by EUMETSAT in the frame of Copernicus. You will be supporting the TSS Technical and Scientific Support Departments GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division in all Copernicus Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations. Your tasks will be mainly focused on the maintenance of all current and future operational ground segments, especially the asbuilt software build environments and the building, packaging and distribution of any software that can be built onsite. Furthermore your duties will include a range of tasks, from support to the operation of the UNIX and Windowsbased ground segment facilities, to the analysis, evolution, testing and maintenance of software items, as well as the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are Maintenance of the asbuilt software build environments Building, packaging and distribution of software releases and patches Support to programmers with respect to software build and development strategies Support the delivery of software externally developed its installation, configuration and testing Investigation into anomalies, their documentation and classification follow up of the delivery of SW corrections Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools to fulfil them writing of maintenance procedures Interfacing with external suppliers who are providing maintenance services for ground segment facilities This is a fulltime position with the planned start in December 2016. You will be nominally based at EUMETSATs facilities in Darmstadt, Germany, but shall be in a position to travel within Europe or worldwide. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree, in the domain of engineering, science, or other suitable qualification and proven experience in the following skills and experiences for at least 5 years. Essential skills are UnixLinux command line tools Software build environments and tools like autoconfautomake, make, ANT, Maven Version control systems like CVS, Subversion, ClearCase, git Various software packaging formats like RPM, PKG, LPP, tgz Scripting languages e.g. Shell, Perl, TclTk, Python Networking, distributed applications, and TCPIP services Centralized SW installation PXETFTP, NIM, AutoYast, kickstart, Jumpstart Basic UNIX System Administration CC programming languages Java programming language Change Management processes Standby callout support, if required Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Practical knowledge in the following areas, as much as possible, will be an advantage Serena Dimensions CM Basic Windows System Administration MySQL, Oracle, ECLIPSE or a similar IDE Formalised Software Testing MSAccess, Visual Basic programming FORTRAN programming. You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and cope with tight schedules, multiple tasks and be able to perform under very high workloads. You shall have the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and obtain a system overview. Very good communication skills, presentation, and team working skills are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies.
