Additionally, Terma is contracted for the development and delivery of software and hardware systems and services for numerous ongoing and future European, and international missions. Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced System Engineer to contribute to the definition and operations preparation for the future EPS Second Generation EPSSG mission. You will be a member of the EPSSG Ops Prep Integrated Team OPIT at EUMETSAT and be involved in supporting the development of the EPSSG system. The support will include general Operation Preparation aspects but will focus on systemlevel and coordination responsibilities. Responsibilities The activities for this consultancy will cover Operation Preparation definition and coordination tasks focusing on System Operation aspects. The tasks and responsibilities will typically include the following Lead endtoend Operation Preparation activities when external entities and partners are involved, in coordination with relevant existing operational interfaces managed in the EUMETSAT Operations Division OPS Deputise for the System Ops Team Leader in charge of the Ground and System Operation Team Manage and coordinate Joint Operation Plans and Operations Interface Control Documents Support OPS team leaders in managing the development and validation of end toend System Operation Procedures and Timelines which cover Operations related to Databases, On Board Software and System routine contingency scenarios. Lead System Timeline procedures definition Coordinate with OPS team leaders to ensure compliance with existing OPS workflows and processes as per the Operations Management Plan OMP In coordination with OPS teams, contribute to the Reference Operations Plan and ensure coherency with mission concepts Contribute to the SSVT Specification and Organisation Plan and coordinate all SSVT test plans with Satellite and System teams Define the Operations Validation Plan and ensure technical coordination for the related future activities Ensure coherency and homogeneity of all delivery mechanism to Ops Prep and future operational usages Coordinate with OPS the MMI definition and control room layout organisation Ensure focal point of contact for coordination with VV team Ensure focal point of contact for coordination and Ops Prep support to OGS team Coordinate communication within Ops Prep team ensure newcomer induction and reading materials Support EPSSG System team for requirement traceability to Operations and Concepts This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date ASAP. The tasks will be carried out at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities. Oncall support is not foreseen as a routine task. However on very specific phases e.g. satellite launch campaign, beginning of operational phases oncall support may be requested. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you shall have a demonstrated experience of at least five years in the field of Spacecraft Operations with specific experience as follows Expertise in space to ground interface and endtoend system dataflow ensuring mission data availability to end users Good system knowledge of the main functional elements of a ground system which are used for the monitoring and control of a satellite Spacecraft monitor and control operations on a SCOS2000 based system Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities Demonstrated experience in a similar key role for the definition and validation of specific operation preparation phases such as SSVT, validation campaigns or rehearsals Operation development life cycle and Operation Preparation environment such as procedure editor and databases management tools Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements and external operational interfaces management The working language for the position is English and therefore the person must be able to work effectively in this language. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for you to have experience with some of the following Inorbit System operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Have demonstrated experience of working in a multipartner programme Good knowledge of working methods and corporate culture of EUMETSAT partners and other agencies such as ESA, LEOPService Providers, DLR, CNES and space industry Specific Operational phases such as LEOP, SIOV, and Commissioning phases Configuration management of operation baseline components on operational systems System development life cycle, phases, reviews and deliverables System engineering background with a System Architecture developed in an MBSE Model Based Systems Engineering approach and system engineering tool CORE In terms of soft skills and characteristics, you should possess the following Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be confident to deal with a wide variety of people Work in teams and good interpersonal skills to coordinate with team leaders and key stakeholders as well as in cooperation with industry and partner agencies Work proactively with capability to lead a small team, with the minimum of supervision Perform effectively under high workloads and be able to adapt to a rapidly changing timecritical environment Conducting activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, working calmly and correctly under stress Able to commit to the plan and deliver the expected results on time or to report proactively if any deviations are foreseen What can Terma offer At Terma, we consider skilled employees, enthusiasm and job satisfaction as the very foundation of our success and as a prerequisite for the development of the bestinclass solutions that Terma provides.
