Ground Station Engineer, Darmstadt, Germany Competitive salary and relocation assistance available An opportunity has arisen for a lead Ground Station Engineer to join Thorn SDS, working on our clients site at the European Space Operations Centre ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany. We are passionate about delivering Space Programs with our partners and you will work in an international environment, with team members from many European States and beyond. We are looking for an Engineer to be responsible for the maintenance and operation of one of ESAs Ground Stations. You will be the technical lead for one of the prestigious ESTRACK facilities based in Scandinavia, maintaining the links between the satellite in orbit and ESOC. You will collaborate with your colleagues to ensure that it remains operational. This role may require an occasional oncall response. As part of this role, you will work with the onsite Maintenance, Operations and Engineering teams based at ESOC. You will define the configurations required to support the missions tracked by this Ground Station and ensure operational efficiency investigate any anomalies incidents and problems affecting the services and identify obsolescence at the Ground Station, assessing any associated risks to the mission support the deployment of new functionality, as required implement the agreed maintenance plan, accurately documenting any changes andor outcomes be the technical expert for onsite Ground Station Maintenance and Operation teams and ensure that the service runs on time and to budget be the technical expert for the engineering teams ensuring that any intervention work is completed on time and to budget be the ESTRACK mission coordinator, managing the implementation of specific mission requirements Essential requirements are a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline at least 5 years of relevant experience servicingsupporting a Satellite Ground Station excellent communication skills, fluent in spoken and written English an organised and motivated individual, with a track record in maintaining and updating accurate documentation exceptional project management skills to ensure that any intervention has a minimum impact on the flow of data at the Ground Station an ability to work well under pressure, when necessary a capacity to work independently, without supervision, taking full responsibility for all aspects of this Ground Station being proactive and able to demonstrate your ability to meet deadlines a willingness to work in collaboration with our partner and the onsite teams to deliver exceptional service You will be required to travel within Europe.
