Home prices soar to records in Santa Clara County and Alameda County

Housing prices and home sales slumped in the Bay Area during May compared with April, but in three hot spots for the region -- Santa Clara County, Alameda County and San Francisco -- median sales prices for homes hit record levels, according to a report released Thursday. The median sales price for Santa Clara County hit $800,000 in May for the first time, which marked a record price for that county, reported CoreLogic, which tracks the real estate market.
