Iliad raises profit, sales on strong customer additions

(Telecompaper) French telecom group Iliad, whose main asset is broadband operator Free, reported revenue up 11 percent to EUR 4.17 billion in 2014, ahead of its initial target and compared with EUR 3.75 billion a year earlier. The company gained market share in both fixed broadband and mobile. Broadband revenue rose by 3 percent to EUR 2.56 billion as it attracted over 228,000 new customers to reach a total of 5.87 million and achieved an ARPU of over EUR 35 a month. Mobile revenue rose by 28 percent to EUR 1.61 billion as the operator added over 2 million new subscribers to reach a total of 10.11 million, or an around 15 percent share of the national market. It boosted handset sales thanks to new financing plans and the iPhone 6 effect. Iliad's EBITDA improved by 7 percent to EUR 1.28 billion and net profit increased by 5 percent to EUR 278 million.
