A vacancy for a Materials Engineer Contamination Cleanliness Control has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. You will provide materials, mechanical parts and processes engineering support to product development and to business unit projects as required. You will contribute to the Materials and Processes team mission of assuring the quality of materials and processes used in Airbus Defence and Space products. This is a specialist position reporting to UK Space Systems Materials Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Act as the responsible materials engineer for one or more projectproduct teams, as necessary acting as the single contact point for the resolution of all materials and processes issues. To satisfy internal customers projects, product teams, manufacturing, AIT, procurement, design office, PA. through the application of specialist materials and processes knowledge. To assure performance of planned activities, on time and with respect to the governing product assurance requirements. To instigate and manage to completion materials and processes selection, development, evaluation and qualification programmes. To participate in risk reviews at all stages of product design, development and manufacture, ensuring that materials and processes risk retirement plans are carried through. To prepare declared materials and processes lists and ensure that adequate materials and processes qualification has been achieved by CDR. To review and approve subcontractorsupplier materials and processes documentation. To monitor the technical performance of subcontractors and suppliers, their compliance and participate in audits. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Materials discipline or Physics with postgraduate experience in a Materials Engineering environment. Must have experience working as a Materials Engineer preferably in the Aerospace Electronics environment. Must have knowledge or understanding of the Measurement and Analysis of Contamination and Cleanliness Control CCC in accordance with ECSS requirements. Experience in vacuum bake out, thermal vacuum testing and outgassing predictions. Indepth knowledge of ECSS, ISO and ASTM requirements would be desirable. Materials and processes knowledge in Composites Materials for Structural use. Failure investigation and other problems, RD into new materials and processes. Must have experience of supporting multiple engineering teams and suppliers Must have experience of problem resolution within an engineering environment Good interpersonal skills, communication and presentation capability.
