JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The Key person shall work in the TSS Technical and Scientific Support Departments GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division, supporting all Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations. These Ground Systems monitor and control EUMETSATs MTP, MSG and METOP satellites and process and distribute all data from their instrument payloads. As a member of the CSM Software Librarian team, the consultant shall provide support to the development and maintenance of all current and future operational ground segments. The main duties are the maintenance and the redesign of the asbuilt software build environments and the building, packaging and distribution of any software that can be built onsite. Furthermore the duties include a range of tasks, from support to the operation of the UNIX and Windowsbased ground segment facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance of software functions. In particular the tasks will include Maintenance and development of the asbuilt software build environments Building, packaging and distribution of software releases and patches Support to programmers with respect to software build and development strategies Support the delivery of software externally developed its installation, configuration and testing Investigation into anomalies, their documentation and classification follow up of the delivery of SW corrections Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools to fulfil them writing of maintenance procedures Interfacing with external contractors who are providing maintenance services for ground segment facilities Qualifications University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Required knowledge Knowledge and experience of the following programming languages, software tools and processes is mandatory Essential knowledge and experience in using UnixLinux command line tools Software build environments and tools e.g. autoconfautomake, make, ANT, Maven Source Code control systems, preferably Subversion, CVS or ClearCase Experience with various software packaging formats RPM, PKG, LPP ... Experience in unattended, centralized software installation mechanisms PXETFTP, NIM, AutoYast, kickstart etc. Scripting languages e.g. Shell, Perl, TclTk, Python Basic UNIX System Administration CC programming languages Java programming language Change Management Desired knowledge Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following software tools and products will be an advantage Basic Windows System Administration Database programming Sybase andor Oracle ECLIPSE or a similar IDE Formalised Software Testing MSAccess, Visual Basic programming FORTRAN programming Serena Dimensions CM The key person shall display Very good communication, presentation, and team working skills combined with the ability to perform under very high workloads The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and obtain a system overview A high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. Experience The Key person shall have experience of SW development, configuration controlled software build environments, and experience in SW packaging, installation and configuration for the operation and maintenance of large, realtime Monitoring Control I Data Processing systems. The Key person shall have significant work experience in Unix and Unixlike Operating System environments and in Windows and Windows Serverbased environments. HeShe should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks, with networking, distributed applications, and TCPIP services. WHAT DO WE OFFER?
