Additionally, Terma is contracted for the development and delivery of software and hardware systems and services for numerous ongoing and future European, and international missions. Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Job description Our customer, ESA, develops ground software systems for supporting the spacecraft mission operations at its operations centre, ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany. ESOC requires an experienced Navigation Engineer NAV ConceptsPOD2 to support primarily POD Services related to LEO POD, NAV POD Concepts for FF and satellite constellations and POD related to GNSS Space Service Volume extension within the Navigation Office. Your tasks will be related to Navigation Operations Services, executed for several ESA and 3rd party customers in parallel, process data from a combination of a number of GNSS receiver networks, including the ESA network plus optionally subnetworks providing data by contractual agreement and publicly available data CDDIS. The data are processed in batch mode or in realtime, in ESOCs Navigation Facility. Service products typically include orbit products restitution and prediction and highrate clock solutions both for the ground and satellite clocks. Beside near real time products enhancedaccuracy offline or final products may be delivered, as well as additional or auxiliary products station coordinates, geophysical data e.g. Earth Rotation Parameters ERPs, satellite properties, etc.. Responsibilities Typical activities depending on the phase of the mission are Navigation Operations Engineering service Navigation Experimental Operations Galileo Performance Analysis EGNOS Performance Analysis POD engineering support and consultancy GNSS station engineering Range Integrity Monitoring Stations RIMS deployment Maintenance and upgrade of SW Ionospheric modelling Support of additional service, projects and activities in the scope of overall Navigation services, if required OnCall Availability, if required This is a fulltime position as a Terma employee for placement at ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany, starting on October 01st 2016. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have an university degree, in the domain of engineering, astronomy, mathematics or physics, or other suitable qualification. Essential skills are Skills to apply their knowledge to develop solutions to technical mathematical and dynamical problems in cooperation with customers and other experts Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions using e.g. Unix andor Linux scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C Willingness to take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields Ability to work independently Good teamworking spirit Experience in the area of Navigation Operations Engineering At least 2 years of experience in an Navigation like operational environment Very good knowledge of system operations automated and manual Very good knowledge of procedures development, implementation and application Good knowledge in GNSS systems and data processing Knowledge or interest in algorithm and SW development Good expertise of OracleSUNSolaris and PCLinux, network services and protocols, and computer peripherals Proficiency in Unix andor Linux, shell scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C andor C Experience in the area of Maintenance and upgrade of SW service delivery Knowledge of, and experience in Configuration Management, Information Security Management and Quality Assurance Experience in the area of Navigation Experimental Operations At least 5 years of experience in an Navigation like experimental environment Very good knowledge in GNSS systems and data processing, algorithms Good knowledge in development of algorithms and SW Good knowledge of system operations automated and manual Good expertise of OracleSUNSolaris and PCLinux, network services and protocols, and computer peripherals Experience in the area of Galileo Performance Analysis At least 5 years of experience Very good knowledge in GNSS IGS standards and data processing Very good knowledge of GNSS algorithms and GNSS analysis software Indepth knowledge of Galileo Experience in the area of EGNOS Performance Analysis At least 5 years of experience Very good knowledge in GNSS IGS standards and data processing Very good knowledge of GNSS algorithms and GNSS analysis software Indepth knowledge of EGNOS Experience In the area of POD engineering support and consultancy at least 10 years of experience in an Navigation like operational environment Very good knowledge in GNSS, SLR and DORIS tracking systems and data processing Very good knowledge in POD algorithms and software development Very good knowledge in modelling of satellite dynamics and signal propagation effects Proficiency in Unix andor Linux, shell scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C andor C Experience In the area of Range Integrity Monitoring Stations RIMS deployment Demonstrated a minimum of practical experience in hosting GNSSGPS reference stations of 5 years Very good communication and negotiation skills Experience In the area of Ionospheric modelling At least 10 years of experience in Ionospheric Modelling, and 3 years of experience in an operational environment Very good knowledge of system operations automated and manual Very good knowledge of procedures development, implementation and application Good knowledge in GNSS systems and data processing Knowledge or interest in algorithm and SW development Good expertise of OracleSUNSolaris and PCLinux, network services and protocols, and computer peripherals Proficiency in Unix andor Linux, shell scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C andor C Excellent oral and written communication in English The following experience would be an additional asset Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarityexperience with Navigation operations engineering tasks Experience dealing with external interfaces Experience with OracleSolaris andor Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration Ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. You need to be able travel within Europe and worldwide and shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. You shall be in a position to travel within Europe, if required.
