Brooklyn's selection last week as a finalist to host the Democratic National Convention in 2016 delighted Mayor Bill de Blasio and Sen. Charles Schumer. The Brooklynites hosted a press conference-cum-celebration to tout New York as the center of the world and therefore the obvious choice: 73 Michelin-starred restaurants, the country's most extensive public-transit system, beacon of freedom.
