We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a Satellite Operational Engineering Services Team You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Service Manager The Service Manager shall specifically carry out the following service tasks Planning, monitoring and control of the services to be provided Management and supervision of all Contractor key person assigned to the service Provide monthly reports covering the service provision based on agreed set of metric, including, team activities, team composition, training, operational events Ensure the availability of the required manning levels at all times Maintain contingency plans for unscheduled staff absence in order to assure the required levels of service Liaising, organising and preparing meeting with Client representative Ensure compliance with staff qualification and skill requirements Record the minutes of all meetings Coordinate with the Client technical Officers planned leaves of the FTEs in order to ensure the service continuity. Operations Engineers The SOE Team will provide service to the Sentinel Spacecraft Operations Team, led by the Copernicus Sentinel Spacecraft Operations Managers, within the Flight Operations Division of the Operations and User Services Department. During the execution of the contract, the Copernicus Satellite Operations Engineering Team shall be involved in the operations of all Sentinel 3 and 6 spacecraft, and all related ground segment and operational services, in the various operational scenarios including S3ABC and S6AB in either routine, operational scenario testing, or commissioning. The Copernicus Satellite Operations Engineering Team shall contribute as follows Prepare for, and execute all relevant Copernicus Sentinel routine operations in a SCOS2000 environment, as well as preparing for the recurrent satellite handover activities Perform the maintenance, validation and documentation of the space segment assets update Interface with all other flight operations teams such as the MCS, mission planning, FDF, but also with external operational entities or services Operate all satellite and FOSPDGSPDAB components aspects related to operations engineering for the platform, payload and instrument, including data handling, instrument parameter, OBSW maintenance, as well as FDIR and OPS security aspects Plan and schedule the satellite operations in coordination with the others teams Continuous monitoring of Spacecraft performance and status Participate to anomaly investigation and resolution Reporting and analysis of the satellite system performance Proficiency training of the Engineers using the space and ground segment simulators Ensure the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. The related tasks for this operations team shall include as a minimum the following contributions Space segment activity planningschedulinguploading Maintenance of space segment andor recovery from anomaly Maintenance of the set of operation procedures and documentation including the update and operational validation of procedure and database using MOIS and DABYS Raising and tracking of Anomaly Reports, including investigations into subsystem level anomalies and regression testing of associated fixes. This may require a close cooperation with the Post Launch Support office at ESTEC and the satellite Industry Ensure the relevant subsystem performance Analysing, trending and reporting on a routine basis using Chart and other available tools and notify team in case of unexpected behaviours Develop, validate, maintain specific toolscript identified from operational needs Preparation and presentation of Operations training to the Control Centre Team Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews with external partners Interactions with Simulator and training officer, for team proficiency training, rehearsal and simulation Prepare for, and execute the onjob training Participate to commissioning reviews and commissioning operations to ensure smooth handover from ESOC Participate in Satellite Progress Meetings and adhoc reviews and contribute to resolution of associated actions. Interactions with mission planning, controller teams, ground segment system operations teams, Identification and preparation of procedure updates required for the operations of A and B satellite Participate to the team shift, and oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis Contribute as required to dual satellite operations build up Participate to CHART project development, encompassing The coordination of additional routine update requests for CHART reports from FCT members The updates to weekly CHART report in line with L1 performance report template The coordination and implementation of CHART reporting widgets as requested by FCT members The review of CHART documentation, e.g. database structure and ingestion definition Contribute to update of CHART maintenance guide from FCT user perspective. Your Profile Service Manager In addition to having a University degree or equivalent the Service Manager shall be able to perform the management tasks identified above and represent MOLTEK in all matters relevant to the service. Operations Engineers In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills, with a particular emphasis on relevant systems of their work assignment relevance see table below Experience of Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool Experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. Analysis Trending AR CHART OPS Docs CMP DMT Anomaly Handling AR APT Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Specification of space system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills are essential and an ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions is highly desirable. All Copernicus SOE team members shall be able to conduct all operations in an orderly and disciplined manner, and shall work calmly and correctly under stress. The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person shall be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. Good communication skills would be also an advantage.
