J3036 Software Architect Summary An experienced Software Architect with a strong Software Development background. Able to architect bespoke software systems in response to customer requirements in a scientific technologyled context, lead development teams through full development lifecycle and to prepare technical proposals to win new work. Responsibilities Duties The successful candidate will take a lead role in winning and delivering SWbased solutions to the external customers technical requirements. The role has a strong focus on engineering andor scientific infrastructure systems.. Software Architect Technical Manager System Design Authority responsible for the overall design of the system, its compliance to technicalengineering requirements and its acceptance by the client. Management of technical team, including subcontracts if required. Responsible for delivery of technical aspects of the project in collaboration with Project Manager Technical point of contact with the client Production of documents technical and also development plans Plan and execute Integration and Test campaigns Preparing for and presentation of formal technical milestone reviews e.g. Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test Preparation of proposals to win new work including Understanding of the technical requirements and the context within the overall project scope. Specification of the solution, trading off alternatives Estimating the effort required to implement the solution covering the full lifecycle of the project Writing clear, concise, technical proposals to express the solution and its benefits to the client Software Development On occasion the role can require handson software development support to projects e.g. coding of critical areas, code review, prototypingvalidating approaches frameworks to be adopted. Qualifications Experience Degree qualified relevant technical degree, or equivalent experience. Ideally the candidate will have at least 10 years commercial experience of software development. Experience in a technical scientific engineering context is an advantage. Knowledge of one or more of the following system types is an advantage Big Data systems for storage, processing and distribution e.g. via OGC protocols Satellite Ground Segment systems e.g. for control centres or satellite payload data processing Essential Skills General ability to analyse and understanding complex technical engineering systems and learn apply new technologies Analysis of customer technicalengineering requirements Software system designarchitectures Integration and Test Software Team leadership Technical proposal writing Software development effort estimation Working knowledge of development models Agile and Waterfall Desirable Skills The successful candidate will have a number of the following skills Java programming including Java Enterprise Database design and solutions e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL Web Client development HTML, CSS, Javascript Web Service development e.g. REST services Python programming Source Code Management Git preferred Unit Testing Continuous Integration e.g. Jenkins Linux development Qualities Interest in science and technology Strong written and oral communication Team player, open and keen to contribute Conscientious, hard working Attention to detail Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early.
