DESCRIPTION Working Team The key person shall work in the TSS Department as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Division. The Mission Control Applications and Tools Team performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Function systems and tools for GEO and LEO missions. In particular the following systems and tools o Monitoring and Control Systems and tools, o Onboard software management tools, o Flight Dynamics Facilities, o Mission Planning Facilities, o OpsPrep Facilities, o Data analysis and reporting tools, Software engineering for the reusage of Mission Control Function systems and tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Automation of application software testing. Software engineering and software maintenance of satellite simulators. Software support to operations. List of tasks The key person will provide hisher prime support to the engineering and maintenance of the Mission Planning facility, but also will provide some software engineering support to the rest of facilities under the responsibility of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. For such software facilities the tasks of the key person will typically include Software Engineering Activities Analysis, software design and following the procurement with external contractors of the evolutions needed in existing mission control facilities to become multimission tools with the concept of generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Software Maintenance Activities Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Evolutions and changes generation and analysis of userdriven and maintenance driven software requirements, design, following procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level, development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Automatic verification testing analysis and implementation of mechanisms allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the software facilities. Installation and verification testing of new software releases or patches preparation and participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns, coordination of the installation of new releases or patches onsite and running the onsite verification testing at facility and system level. Technical Management Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Routine reporting preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. Meeting participation participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested. Contractor management at technical level support for the technical management of the external contractors including supporting technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor. Software engineering methodology Analysis activities focused on a common software engineering methodology and common software engineering tools for the GSI Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. Development of tools supporting these common software engineering methodologies. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Training prepare and provide training covering endusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control facilities. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software development. The key person shall have skills and experience in software development with the following mandatory areas Note Attention shall be given to the critical role that the following mandatory requirements play in the selection process System Development Maintenance Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in software development and maintenance using a formal life cycle resulting in deliveries to customers. This includes production of requirements, design engineering artefacts and implementation reflecting corrective and evolutive software maintenance activities as well as new applications definition. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in AssemblyIntegrationVerification AIV related activities test procedure generation, nonregression testing, requirements verification and validation. Software Engineering Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in designing and developing software components and applications using Object Oriented OO approach including design patterns. Relevant experience in the usage of software CASE design tools. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in designing and developing software applications using Java under UNIX operating systems. Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using C under UNIX operating systems. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in designing and developing software client applications using Eclipse as HMI framework Rich Client Platform. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with RDBMS engineering. Documentation and Configuration Management Skills Very good knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications and experience with documentation management systems. Experience in using configuration Management and anomaly reporting and tracking tools. It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have experience with some of the following Domain Skills Mission Planning functions specifications development and operations within a space system. System Maintenance Skills Maintenance of Low Earth Orbiting Mission Planning systems and tools. Technical management of contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for software evolution and maintenance. Software Technology Skills IBM DOORS requirement management tool. Experience in version Control Systems CVS and SVN. Linux Operating System. Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting including tools for automation of functional testing. Enterprise Architect and MagicDraw CASE tools. Unified Modelling Language UML for software design. OSGi Bundles development. Software applications using ODBCJDBC bridges and programmatic interfaces to MySQL and Oracle RDBMS. Engineering of MySQL and Oracle RDBMS. Administration of MySQL and Oracle RDBMS. Eclipse IDE for software development. Apache HTTP Server. JavaScript, PHP, CSS HTML5 for web client application development. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT and XPath. Interprocess communication mechanisms, in particular TCPIP and CORBA standards. The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.
