(Telecompaper) Sony has unveiled two new smartphones at the Ifa show in Berlin, focusing on their camera abilities and a new voice-activated ear piece to interact with the phones. The flagship, 5.2-inch Xperia XZ smartphone will launch globally in October, and the 4.6-inch Xperia X compact will be available this month. The phones come with Sony's "triple image sensing technology", which the company says allows users to catch split-second action in any environment. They are also the first phones with 5-axis image stabilization, which Sony says enables shooting smoother videos, and they come with the Adaptive Charging technology developed with Qnovo to extend the battery lifespan. Sony also announced the Xperia Ear, an in-ear, hands-free device that will be available from November starting in select markets. Xperia Ear connects wirelessly to the smartphone and can responds to verbal command to provide the user with information and assistance. Equipped with Sony Agent Technology and a proximity sensor, Xperia Ear can retrieve calendar and other personal information from the phone and provide information about the user's surroundings.
