This is an opportunity for 1 experienced engineer to work in the domain of the ESA Space Debris Office SDO. The position is based in ESOC, in Darmstadt with a start from 01.01.2017. Deadline for submission is 15th of November 2016. ESAs commitment to Space Debris Mitigation includes, among others, the software tool suite to validate adherence to mitigation requirements DRAMA Debris Risk Assessment and Mitigation Analysis, a database in support of space situational awareness and collision avoidance DISCOS Database and Information System Characterising Objects in Space, and various websites serving as interfaces to the above mentioned software services. ResponsibilitiesDuties Unit and accepting testing of new and existing software Integration and verification of software services, both in development and operationally Implementing quality assurance and maintenance of the existing and future software services Data management and processing for existing and future software services. Acting as an interface for the SDO and ESA internal and external customers visvis software issues Design and implementation of roadmaps for the software services under its quality assurance and maintenance responsibility based on feedback from the endusers and taking into account separate developments and research within the SDO Work in international teams QualificationsExperience Completed university degree in mathematics, physics, engineering or equivalent with high grades Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Essential Skills Space debris, celestial mechanics, and related data processing Testing, integration and validation of large software systems and services Software engineering aspects agile development, from scratch development, maintenance, testing, redundancy concepts, version control Requirements engineering as well as documentation skills The PCLinux and PCWindows environment, network services and protocols Webbased database frontends Shell scripting languages, Python, Fortran, and nonrelational databases Postgresql Quality assurance Desirable Skills Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarityexperience with Space Debris engineering tasks, including user experience for DISCOS and DRAMA Version control systems git Issue trackers redmine.
