Kayser Space, recently established in the UK, brings a 30year heritage in science payloads and subsystems built up by parent company Kayser Italia, a leading supplier of experimental hardware for the International Space Station, specialising in space electronics and life science experiments in microgravity environments. Kayser is building a technology portfolio in the UK and has a long history of working with universities to bring innovations from the research laboratory into space applications. Kayser Space is currently expanding its team to work on ESA funded projects related to hardware development for life science experiments on board the International Space Station. The company is also involved in a range of other microgravity experiments, space technology development and the translation of space hardware and knowhow to other sectors, particularly within the life sciences remit. Key Tasks Responsibilities Reporting to the Programme Manager Technical Lead, the Systems Engineer generates hardware systems concepts, specification, architecture and development plans for new and existing space flight systems, with main duties and responsibilities to include Definition and analysis of system and subsystem requirements from specified userscientific requirements. In the absence of clearly defined specifications, be able to understand the underlying goals in order to proposeclarify equipment requirements. Determine systems architecture specifications and working parameters for hardwaresoftware compatibility and coordinate the development of subsystems to integrate the total system. Specify interfaces between hardware and software to develop and integrate cohesive systems and products. Ability to tradeoff design and technical options to establish the right solution and where applicable procurement method, e.g. make or buy. Carry out the technical evaluation of suppliers and contactors. Apply mature engineering knowledge to large andor complex projects. Engineering planning and overseeing the manufacture procurement of experimental hardware systems and subsystems for space applications, providing coordination of subsystem specialists during implementation, integration and tests in line with space engineering standards and practices.
