Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. The primary areas of responsibility for this service are the Instrument systems including software but the service provider may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. The service provide provider will be primarily assigned to a particular mission within Earth Observation Explorer Mission family but with the possibility of supporting other missions within this family. This is a job for an experienced Engineer. HeShe will be directly located on customer site at ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany. The position is fulltime and permanent. Deadline for submission is 13.09.2016 and expected start date will be earliest ion October 2016. ResponsibilitiesDuties The general activities to be supported by this service are depending on the phase of the mission Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Software Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Review and assessment of Satellite documentation and support to the Space Segment development Preparation of Functional Requirements for the Project dedicated Flight Control Ground Facilities Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Mission Management and Mission Planning Support Service Production of Project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test SVT Procedures, Reports and Participation in SVTs Participation in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and Mission Critical Operations General Flight Control Support Service Spacecraft Performance Analysis QualificationsExperience A relevant University degree or higher qualification together with experience in spacecraft operations Essential Skills Spacecraft subsystem knowledge Payloads including software ideally OpticalRadar Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations Fluency in English, both speech and writing Coordination with other service providers in operations team player Interaction with other service providers in operations and other fields e.g. payload ground segment providers Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Ability to work independently Desirable Skills Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarity with ground station control processes and setup Familiarity with prelaunch development, integration and testing of ground and space segments Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, nonEuropean mission partners Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites Familiarity with MOIS Familiarity with Ground station scheduling processes Ability to multitask and work in a flexible way
