Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description System Security Engineer in the Galileo System Security Unit in the Galileo Security Office, Navigation Security Office, Directorate of Navigation. Duties The holder of this post will report to the Head of the Galileo System Security unit within the Galileo Security Office and heshe will support the GNSS Evolutions Signal and Security Principal Engineer from the Galileo Evolution Programme, in Defining the evolution of the Galileo Public Regulated Service PRS, in terms of system specification and design in coordination with the Galileo Second Generation System Engineering Unit in charge of the overall architecture Deriving the corresponding Segment requirements Space Segment, Ground Segment and User Segment from the Evolution System requirements for PRS Supporting technology predevelopments Signal generator and Receiver in preparation of future PRS test bench and security activities Defining and Managing the procurement of system tools e.g. Emulators, Test Bed contributing to the proof of concept and experimentation of potential PRS evolutions Defining and following test campaigns Test Plan, Test Cases and Procedures for experimentation and validation of new capabilities envisaged in the frame of PRS evolutions, in order to consolidate assumptions and target figures in terms of navigation performance, resilience and broadcast encryption scheme Planning and defining the future inorbit validation of new Galileo PRS capabilities including associated system test tools such as Test User Receiver In the execution of hisher tasks the System Security Engineer will cooperate closely with colleagues from the Galileo Second Generation System Engineering Unit on tasks related to system design and verification. Technical competencies System engineering principles, processes and standards Design, development, deployment and testing of complex secure systems Satellite navigation principles and related security architectures Project development phases Industrial development, verification and procurement processes Behavioural competencies Communication Problem Solving Teamwork Innovation Creativity Education Engineering degree Master level Additional requirements The incumbent will work inside the Galileo Security Office which is in charge of all the securityrelated activities for Galileo and Galileo Second Generation projects. Heshe should thereofre have acquired extensive experience in the design and development of large distributed security systems. In addition, good background in satellite navigation, signals, receiver and security engineering applied to space systems will be considered an asset. The candidate is expected to be able to set priorities and identify practical solutions. The candidate should be able to work autonomously as well as in a team environment. Applicants should have good organisation and communication skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies. The candidate must be eligible to security clearance by their national security administration. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
