SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT: A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for... * Roca Partido northward to Tecolutla, Mexico. DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 100 AM CDT (0600 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Earl was located near latitude 19.0 North, longitude 96.5 West. Earl is moving toward the west near 9 mph (14 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next day or so. On the forecast track, Earl will continue to move inland throughout the day on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 mph (80 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued weakening is expected as the center of Earl moves farther inland. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km), mainly to the northeast of the center. An automated station at Sacrifice Island, Mexico recently reported a gust of 40 mph (64 km/h). The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- WIND: Tropical storm conditions will continue across the warning area tonight and early Saturday morning. RAINFALL: Earl is expected to produce storm total rainfall of 8 to 12 inches with isolated maximum amounts 18 inches over portions of the Mexican states of Veracruz, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Puebla, Tabasco, and Campeche through Saturday night.
