HE Space is a successful international space company. For 30 years, we have been supporting our customers with qualified experts in the field of engineering, science and administration. We are currently looking for a UNIX System Engineer to support our customer in Germany. UNIX System Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. In this role you will have the following responsibilities Install and configure operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance Analyse, plan and carry out HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations Monitor the system performance, investigate HW and system SW problems and carry out the relevant corrective actions Ensure operational configuration can be restored in case of HW or SW failures Liaise with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions Administer and install databases and administer user accounts SW development and maintenance support Generate and maintain technical documentation. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in computer science or other relevant discipline Administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems Experience in an operationalproduction environment, characterized by custom applications in addition to standard software, running both on the client and server side, and by high availability requirements Expert knowledge of the Solaris and UNIX operating systems Good experience in the installation and administration of Oracle Databases TCPIP, NIS, NFS, DNS, SNMP, FTP SUN Cluster, Veritas Cluster, VMWare Fluency in English, knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
