Vodafone Greece, Wind Hellas reach network-sharing agreement

2013-06-26 15:41:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Greece and Wind Hellas signed an active 2G and 3G network sharing agreement which covers rural areas and some urban sites. Vodafone will continue to operate its 4G network exclusively across Greece. Vodafone said its customers will benefit from improved coverage and enhanced data performance from the network combination and both companies will realise cost savings as a result of this agreement. Vodafone and Wind will form a new technology company to manage the radio access network. The agreement, which runs for 15 years, is subject to approval by the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission. Vodafone and Wind last year discussed a full merger of the two operators, but in the end broke off the talks, reportedly due to regulatory concerns.
