Vodafone Netherlands sues KPN over delay in fixed access

2015-12-10 08:40:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Netherlands is suing KPN for anti-competitive behaviour, saying the Dutch incumbent prevented Vodafone from entering the triple-play market for several years. Vodafone claims EUR 115 million in damages due to KPN obstructing its access to key network technology in 2011-2014 and hence slowing the launch of the 'Vodafone Thuis' (Vodafone at Home) offer. Vodafone filed its suit at the court in The Hague, claiming KPN abused its dominant market position, and was able to build up a significant customer base in the triple-play market in recent years while it kept rivals out of the market. Vodafone said KPN repeatedly did not meet its obligations to deliver technology needed for Vodafone's fixed offer. KPN owns the only DSL network in the country and the main FTTH network.
