PFSWeb Acquires 2 Companies

Last week PFSWeb acquired its second company this month, acquisitions that were not unexpected. In August, CEO Mike Willoughby had told investors and analysts that the company was targeting acquisitions to enable the company to provide a broader range of end to end eCommerce solutions: I think we have a limited ability to engage on those small opportunities with an end-to-end model but we have better opportunity to engage on those small to mid-size opportunities once we've evolved the model to include other platforms and additional professional services.

All Aboard Florida's parent companies give more than $125K in 2014 election cycle

All Aboard Florida's parent companies, Florida East Coast Railway and Florida East Coast Industries, have given more than $125,000 to candidates and committees during the 2014 election cycle - a fraction of what several other large businesses in have contributed during the same time frame, state and county records show. Florida East Coast Railway contributed $74,825 to 2014 campaigns, state finance records show.

EBay, PayPal to become standalone companies

(Telecompaper) EBay plans to separate its eBay and PayPal businesses into two independent publicly traded companies. The company said it hopes to achieve the move in the first half of next year, subject to customer conditions. EBay CEO John Donahoe and CFO Bob Swan will be responsible for leading the separation of each business, with board oversight. This will include deciding on appropriate management and capital structures for the businesses. Neither will however an executive management role in the new eBay and PayPal companies, although they will serve on the boards of the two companies. David Wenig, currently the president of eBay Marketplaces, will become CEO of the new eBay company. Dan Schulman, an executive at American Express, will join PayPal immediately as president and CEO designee for PayPal post-separation. The announcement follows a strategic review of eBay's growth strategies and structure. The review concluded that creating two standalone businesses will enable both to capitalise on their respective growth opportunities and create sustainable shareholder value.
