The American Public Power Association , together with more than 20 other energy and business organizations, on March 25 asked the White House Council on Environmental Quality to withdraw the proposed revised guidance it issued in December to federal agencies on how they should handle issues involving greenhouse gas emissions when conducting environmental reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act . APPA and the other groups, which include the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers, outlined a number of "serious deficiencies" in the revised draft guidance from the CEQ.

Money managers cut net-long positions in West Texas Intermediate crude for a second week in the seven days ended Jan. 27, boosting short wagers to the highest level since 2010, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission data show. Three days later, Baker Hughes Inc. said drillers pulled 94 rigs from U.S. fields in a single week, the most on record, driving crude prices to their biggest gain since June 2012.

After years of relentless litigation, it seems the mobile/smartphone patent war might be drawing to a close. Rockstar, a patent trolling company owned by Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Ericsson, and BlackBerry, has agreed to cancel the lawsuits it had filed against Google and most Android device makers. This follows on from news this summer that Apple and Google had agreed to drop all lawsuits between the two companies, and Apple and Samsung agreed to drop all lawsuits outside the US.

A group of US industry associations has asked the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to withdraw a proposed rule that would amend the existing regulation on certificates of compliance - and is calling for a stakeholder advisory group to be set up while changes to the import process are considered.
