Memories emerge intact from cryogenic resurrection machine
2015-05-29 14:24:15| Extremetech
While there have been advances in freezing and thawing animals that lack built-in cold survival responses, it wasn't clear whether important higher level functions, like memory, would emerge unscathed -- until now.

The resurrection of Perry Ellis; Billy Reida s Southern take on spring
2014-09-08 02:24:33| Apparel - Topix.net
After three seasons away from the New York Fashion Week runways, menswear label Perry Ellis showed Thursday in what was both a strong return for the brand and an impressive debut for the company's new Creative Director Michael Maccari , who has previously worked for American powerhouses Ralph Lauren , Donna Karan and Calvin Klein . The collection, mixing large- and small-scale patterning , activewear details with tailored suiting and touches of tech fabric everywhere had an obvious sportswear through-line in keeping with the brand's founder, whose menswear identity has at times struggled to assert itself as Perry Ellis has searched for its place in the fashion world of the 21st century.

Windows 8 Start menu resurrection delayed until next version of Windows in 2015
2014-06-02 18:41:24| Extremetech
According to some anonymous sources (with good track records), the Start menu won't be returning to Windows 8 later this year as part of Update 2. Instead, it may get pushed back until the next major Windows release, dubbed Threshold, in 2015. It isn't clear why Microsoft is holding back the Start menu, but my guess is that it would make for a nice (if ironic) "killer" feature to get people to upgrade to Threshold/Windows 9. It also isn't clear if Metro-apps-on-the-Desktop will be a Threshold feature, or if they'll make it into Update 2.
