(Telecompaper) Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) and TPG Telecom have agreed the terms of a merger to establish a new integrated operator in Australia worth an estimated AUD 15 billion. Vodafone said the merged company "will be a more powerful challenger to Telstra and Optus", with an integrated fixed and mobile offering. It will also be better able to invest in next-generation mobile and fixed networks and provide service and product upgrades for Australian customers.

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US and Sprint have agreed to merge in an all-share deal, creating a new major player in the US mobile market to rival Verizon and AT&T. Under the agreed terms, Deutsche Telekom will own 42 percent of the merged group, and SoftBank Group will have a 27 percent stake, with the remainder listed on the stock market. The group will be called T-Mobile, with John Legere remaining CEO.
