A Forest Lake couple is accused of bilking the government out of about $115,000 in public assistance while not reporting income, according to criminal charges filed last week. Brittany A. Vacko, 25, and Eric J. Vacko, 35, were charged Friday in Ramsey County District Court with wrongfully obtaining assistance, theft by swindle and forgery with intent to defraud, all felonies.

Dublin-based Actavis is laying off more than 400 workers on Long Island from recently acquired Forest Laboratories , far more than the fewer than 50 that the first filings with New York State regarding cutbacks indicated. A March 6 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing indicated that 412 workers would be affected on Long Island, including 47 remote sales staff.
