Valeant Pharma Q3 profit beats estimates, company raises outlook for Q4, 2015

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. beat analyst estimates for third-quarter profit and says both the fourth quarter and 2015 are looking more positive than estimates have forecast. The Montreal-area company reported US$275.4 million of net income, or 82 cents per share, under standard accounting and US$718.8 million after adjustments, resulting in $2.11 per share of adjusted EPS.

ValueAct returns to Valeant board, plans to raise stake

Hedge fund ValueAct Capital said on Thursday it would return to the board of directors of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc, which is pursuing a hostile takeover offer for Allergan Inc, and that it planned to increase its stake in the company. ValueAct Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Ubben said in a statement that once he is on the board, he would work with Valeant on its $53 billion acquisition of Allergan, a deal whose certainty he has previously questioned.

Valeant Pharma expects 3Q revenue to top forecasts

Shares of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. climbed Wednesday after the Canadian drugmaker said it expects market share gains in most of its businesses and that its third-quarter revenue will top forecasts. The drugmaker also said it expects 10 percent growth from the established business of its contact lens maker Bausch + Lomb, a target of criticism in Valeant's on-going takeover battle with Botox-maker Allergan Inc. Allergan has rebuffed several takeover bids from Valeant over the past few months, the latest amounting to about $53 billion.

Botox maker Allergan Inc. is reviewing shareholder requests for a special meeting to consider replacing most of its board, a change fellow drugmaker Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. is seeking as part of the hostile takeover attempt it's been waging since April.
